Apple Cider Vinegar Is My New Saving Grace, You Should Try It!

Neyara Nior By Posted on 0 3 m read 263 views

Now that I’m this jet setting ninja, I come across lots of interesting people, who have even more interesting habits.

Here’s how I got caught up in the Apple Cider Vinegar saga.

We’re in Tampa and my co-worker tells me that we’re going to take a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning. I don’t even eat salt and vinegar chips so I already KNOW there will be no shots for me, unless I’m off the clock and Hennessy is involved. My first response, which is also my first thought, is “No, we’re not going to do anything together but our job.” Of course she laughs and I’m standing there with a straight face.

I didn’t think about it for the rest of the day, or that evening. So you can imagine my surprise the next morning when she pulls out a bottle of ACV and takes out two cups.

Sweet baby Jesus, that stuff stunk so bad. She poured two shots and two glasses of orange juice. After toasting to a healthy lifestyle and fulfilling 2017, we took the shot and chased it down with the juice.

Truth is, it wasn’t that bad! I didn’t enjoy it, but I felt like I could do it again!

I felt really good the entire day. I’m usually tired between flights because of jet lag and I wasn’t tired after a 14 hour day. It took a few hours for me to realize it, but I felt really leveled. Not like I was going to crash and burn later, like I sometimes do when I end a three day trip.

I think it tastes best if you add a shot of ACV to orange juice, pineapple juice, any hot tea, or very cold welch’s juice. Some won’t agree, because of the acid, but I’m still alive and well.

Nywhoo…

Some amazing benefits have happened since I began drinking ACV. The first thing I noticed was a boost in my energy, which I already told you about. Second was my teeth; they were a lot whiter than normal. I also don’t have a dry mouth at the end of a long day. My arthritis pain in my wrist stopped, and I haven’t had any more aches either.

But the BEST benefit was the swelling in my tonsils subsided. I’ve had trouble with my tonsils for years. I’ve been delaying getting them removed, because if they don’t bother me I don’t want to bother them. I’m okay with them being back there (even if it looks like two big knots sitting in the back of my throat). My ENT told me my swelling comes from allergies. One thing I’m allergic to is dust, and there is a lot of dust on planes. From my understanding of one way ACV works is that it clears out your gut. So when we breathe in different allergens, they settle in our throat and stomach. ACV cleans all of that out. My throat burned for about a week, but I noticed that the size of my tonsils were going down drastically, so I continued to take my shot of ACV. Now, my tonsils don’t burn, and my tonsils look normal.

I’m encouraging everyone I know to take a shot of ACV at least once a day. I don’t usually get on the bandwagon about a lot of things, but ACV is something I truly believe in. So tomorrow morning add a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar to your glass of tea, or water, or be daring and take a shot like me and chase it with a glass of orange juice!

Bottoms up!

Destress & Detox: 4 Detox Baths You Must Take

Neyara Nior By Posted on 0 4 m read 192 views

I truly enjoy taking showers, but when my shower broke on me, I enjoyed a good bubbly every night!

So, at first, I felt like I was wasting water, and that my nightly routine was taking more time than usual, because I do love showers. Then, I started to enjoy my nightly routine. I enjoyed the bubbles, bath salt, and bath bombs. I enjoyed doing my sugar scrubs and taking my time. I felt like a feather every night I stepped out of the tub, and I slept like a baby, which for me isn’t often hard, especially, since my body is always trying to adjust to a different time zone.

Once I got my shower fixed, I went back to my regularly scheduled nightly routine, but my sleep pattern is the main reason I began looking up detox baths. I’ve been reading, researching and reviewing the best detox baths to take. I found several, and tried many, but only these four I LOVED.

But, first things first! Preparation is very important. You want to make sure your bath water is as hot as you can possibly get it so that the ingredients mix well. The water will cool, and plus, you’ll need to spend anywhere from twenty to forty minutes in your detox bath.

Let’s soak!

1. Sea Salt Detox Bath

Ingredients: Hand full of Epsom salts, hand full of natural sea salt, hand full of baking soda

This is a very popular bath because relieves joint aches and pains. Most people use Epsom salt, but adding the natural sea salt  makes this detox bath healthier. The mix of Epsom and sea salt will give you more energy, although it’s very relaxing. What’s so awesome about this combo is that it pulls out the toxins in the body. The added bonus is that it doesn’t just take from your body, it also provides health benefits to your skin. If you scrub your body is circular motion, the dead skin will fall off, and your skin will look like it’s glowing!

2. Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Bath

Ingredients: 1-2 cups of raw Apple cider vinegar

I think I sweat the MOST in this bath, and when I got out the tub. I think I even got dehydrated during this bath, and I at least drink 1.5 liters of water a day. So my first piece of advice is to drink plenty more water, before, during and after this detox. Apple cider vinegar helps restore the acid-alkaline balance in your body, which is good for skin health. Surprisingly, the vinegar detox bath made me extremely sleepy, so you might want to head straight to bed after your detox.

3. Lavender

Ingredients: 10 drops of lavender oil

This will be the most relaxing bath out of the four listed. Lavender is a great skin oil, for those who suffer from eczema, acne or even psoriasis. Its soothing fragrance helps relieve headaches, anxiety and stress, which helps you sleep better and be calmer throughout your day or night. On the inside, it helps balance blood sugar, and can serve as an antioxidant protector, which means you’ll look younger longer!

4. Green Tea Detox Bath

Ingredients: 3-4 organic tea bags (if you’re really about that life, add a squeeze of Lemon or Lime)

I’m a huge green tea drinker, but I never thought to put the tea in my bath water. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a great bath detox that does the same things as drinking the tea would do, but on a major level. green tea is a healing tea, so bathing in it has many healing benefits. Aside from gaining more energy, it helps increase antioxidant activity in the bloodstream and lowering cholesterol.

It’s important that you rub your skin gently towards your heart in every detox bath you take. This is so that you can have good for stimulation throughout your body and helps soothe your muscles.

Honestly, I loved all of theses baths for different reasons. I don’t have a favorite out of these four, because they all benefited me in a great way. I tried other detox baths which included ingredients like ginger and baking soda, but these were the four that were the best for me. I didn’t have the heart to add bleach to my bath water like many others do, but if it floats your boat, definitely research it first and then try it for yourself. Otherwise, I hope that you try a detox bath tonight. I promise you, it’ll be worth your time.

Clothing Swap Party!

Neyara Nior By Posted on 0 2 m read 210 views

The time has come!

If you keep up with this Blogazine, then you KNOW saving money is a conversation I enjoy having.

Here’s a cute way to revamp your wardrobe, save money and have a fun girls night in all at once! Have a clothing swap party. It doesn’t have to be a huge gathering; just have a couple of your closest friends over and eat food, drink wine and have fun.

Now, I know some of you may shake your head at this idea, but I promise it’s not that bad. Plus it’s time to clean out your closet anyway, why not share with your friends first everything you’re planning to get rid of.

Honestly though, if your friends are anything like mine, they go through your closet and take your things all year long.

A few tips to make the swap run smoothly:

  • Choose a theme. It can be accessories, purses, shoes, or clothes.
  • Tell everyone to bring at least two items. If the theme is jewelry, then everyone should bring two pieces, either a necklace and a pair of earrings, a bracelet, and necklace, and so on. The items don’t have to match, they just have to be in a “like new” condition.
  • Have a display table, so that everyone can place their items on it and everyone can see what’s available.
  • To be fair, you can draw numbers, or do a fake bidding so that everyone gets something and
  • If there’s anything left, donate it to a local nonprofit.

Have you hosted or attended a clothing swap? Tell me about it below!

Standing On The Sun In San Juan

Neyara Nior By Posted on 0 3 m read 140 views

Colorful…Eclectic…

Fresh air…Cool breeze…Clear water…

That’s the only way I can express the beauty of this Island.

I had less than twenty hours to see the world around me, and San Juan was where my travels brought me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I knew there would be plenty of water, and even more sun.

My first time in Puerto Rico was sure to be fun, and when we landed and I walked into my hotel room for the evening I couldn’t wait until morning to go on my own little adventure.

But first, I had to make it through the night. The air felt like silk running across my skin. It was humid, but it was like the perfect amount of humidity. I turned off the air in the room and opened my balcony door to bring in the fresh air. Everyone talked about how they slept with their doors open, but I wasn’t on that level, because I had already seen the lizards San Juan had to offer, and I didn’t want them thinking they were welcomed inside my room. Needless to say, right before I went to sleep the balcony door was closed, and I slept peacefully.

The sun wasted no time in rising and shinning bright. I was up at six looking around my room for understanding. Especially since I had just went to bed at two a.m. I looked out on my balcony and people had already started their days. I felt like I was late to the party. It was truly beautiful outside.

I was asked this question a lot once I got back home. I took my time roaming the city around me. I tried to be as careful as possible because I knew I looked liked either a tourist, or extreme photographer holding my cameras, lenses and such.

I went out around ten that morning, and the city seemed so peaceful. Many people were heading to the beach, children played at the local playground, and I saw young men practicing their sports. It was like a normal day in the neighborhood, and it was nice to people watch.

What to wear?

I wouldn’t pack any jeans. Only shorts, breathable shirts, skirts, and maxi dresses. Also be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen. The sun here will burn you and have no regrets about it.

Shoes! Every girl loves sandals, but if you plan to do some walking pack a good shoe with arch support. Leave the sandals for the beach. I walked around in my cute sandals, and the bottom of my feet felt raw after about a half hour of walking. Learn from my mistakes, wear your good shoe around the city and your sandals for the beach. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Lastly, San Juan is a part of America, so their currency is American. That was another question I kept getting. Puerto Rico is so Americanized, you may clutch your imaginary pearls. I saw the Coach Outlet, Marshalls, Burger King and Fogo De Choa. Yup. Yup, I did! I felt right at home.

My time in the San Juan Islands was delightful. I wish I could have gone snorkeling or kayaking *sigh* maybe next time.  If you ever find yourself hanging out in the islands come back and let me know about your experience. 🙂

FALL CLEANING: 4 TYPES OF CLOTHES YOU NEED TO LET GO!

Neyara Nior By Posted on 0 2 m read 615 views

Ladies the time has come!

It’s getting darker earlier, and it’s getting cooler. You’re probably noticing all the spring and summer clothes you’ve worn out and some that you hadn’t worn this summer. So you know what that means…

It’s time to clean out your closet!

I know its hard to get rid of clothes, shoes, and other materialistic pleasures, but don’t fall into the trap of being a hoarder when you should be cleaning out your closet. You don’t have to throw out everything, but you should be updating and revamping your closet at least twice a year. So out with the old, and welcome the new!

Baddie-Girl-Throw-Away-Clothes-woman, clothes, messy, happy, disorder, mess, pretty, attractive, smiling, glad, portrait, many, surrounded, heap, stack, pile, among, young, girl, female, clothing, lying, fashion, dirty, laundry, stuff, creased, excess, disorganized, clutter, chaos, covering, eye

Here are the different types of apparel you should be clearing your closet of:

  • Don’t Fit. If you haven’t been able to fit into clothes for a year, then it’s time to put them in the donation pile. Even if you promised yourself you’ll lose that extra 10 pounds! If it hasn’t happened yet, let that dream defer. It’s okay that you didn’t met your goal, what isn’t okay is you lying to yourself. Also clothes that are too big if you’ve lost weight. Enjoy your current size, don’t worry about if you may gain the weight back. That’s unnecessary stress you’re adding to your life. You look good, so just worry about dressing your current body.
  • You Know Better. It doesn’t matter how “comfortable,” the clothes may be. You need to ask yourself: do I really need that faded t-shirt that I’m holding on to? Probably not, so get rid of it! Those jeans that are wearing out in the center, but fit you so well can go too. LET THAT SH*T GO! Your body deserves to be dressed in the best clothes that your money can afford.
  • Damaged Clothing. If you can’t fix it–ditch it! That shirt with the stain you still can’t get out, or that silk dress with the irreparable hole that can’t be fixed, you need to let it go. It can still be new, but if you can’t wear it, then it’s doing you no good.
  • Old and Smelly. If there are yellow stains in the under arm of your shirts, or your leggings are crumbling in the middle, throw them away. Don’t even pass them on to anyone else. Clothes that have been boxed up so long that they have acquired a smell can also be tossed out. Everything is not meant to be passed down. If you’ve gotten all of the treasure out of your clothes, then it’s just trash, and it’s time to let go.

I know it may be hard, but look on the bright side: you’re making room for the new items you’re getting ready to buy!

What are some clothes you need to get rid of?

5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR COVER LETTER STAND OUT!

Neyara Nior By Posted on 0 3 m read 145 views

Although it seems as though everyone is hiring, many are still without jobs. But the problem may be that people seem to only focus on their resume’s and not their cover letter’s which is a BIG NO-NO. Some employers won’t even look at your resume’ if it doesn’t have a cover letter.

The former Vice President of News, Ms. Edwards, at NBC once told me that if you send her a résumé without a cover letter the application is incomplete and it makes the person look tacky, and as if they put no time into applying for the job.

Some people don’t know this, and I understand, if no one tells you, how will you know. So here are a few tips for your cover letter. If you use these basic tips they should help you to stand out, and make you look good in ink!

1. LOOK THE PART

Realize that your cover letter is like your thirty-second elevator pitch for yourself. You have to look the part, and present yourself like you want the job. Your cover letter is usually the first thing a potential employer sees, so make sure your heading is nice, and your spacing is perfect. Make sure it looks presentable, and as if you spent time on it. Perfection is in the smallest details!

2. CUSTOMIZE IT TO THE EMPLOYER

You wouldn’t want a card sent to you saying “To Whom This May Concern” so don’t put it on your cover letter. People like to feel important and Google and LinkedIn is too amazing for you to not find out who has what position, their phone number, and email and sometimes physical address. Use your resources!

3. TAILOR IT!

You should talk about the position you are applying for and what you can contribute to the company. Nothing should be generic about your cover letter except for your name at the end. Talk about what makes you unique, and don’t be afraid to brag, just don’t go overboard. You’re trying to get noticed! You want to show them that you are the best fit for the job, and that you’ll be a great member of their company family. Most importantly, use words that are in the job description, it’s there for a reason! Those are the key words in finding your application to begin with. Read it and use it!

4. KEEP IT SIMPLE

Do not let your cover letter run over a page. Also keep your paragraphs short! Three to four short paragraphs with two to three sentences each will do. Have things stand out as well by using bullet points. Make sure your bullet points tell your strengths, because they probably will read your opening and go straight to the bullet points. It’s no secret that employers skim your information; no one has time to actually read every cover letter and resume that comes across their desk.

5. NO ERRORS

You don’t want to lose the position simply because you don’t know the difference between: there, their, and they’re, or bored and board. Also, this is not a text conversation! No LOL, HMU, TTYL! Check, recheck it, and have a friend who is business savvy look it over too before sending it out.

Remember, your cover letter is the first hello. Keep it conversational, and let your personality shine through. The job of your dreams await you!

Have you updated your résumé?
