LL BURELL: LEAVING HIS FOOTPRINTS YEAR BY YEAR

He can recall a conversation he had with his stepfather when he moved to Los Angeles. His stepfather told him that he didn’t need faith. Of course, he argued, “faith is what brought me out here.” His stepfather replied, “no, no. The first step was faith, after that you already knew that you would be doing that, so what do you need faith for, when you already know?”

Courtney Burrell, is a the newest upcoming star, and he’s taking the entertainment world by storm. Known to the world as LL Burrell, he isn’t letting anyone get in the way of him chasing his dream, and leaving his footprints on this Earth. He’s had some successes, such as being on shows like The Game and Let’s Stay Together, he’s even made an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show, but he isn’t done, he’s aiming higher, and with his whit and charm it is easy to tell that it won’t be hard for him.

In 2006, Burrell worked at Boston Market, where he used to cut chicken. He remembers the prophets that would come in and tell him that God had a bigger plan for him, and some would tell him that he didn’t belong in the back cutting chicken. Although a little shocked, he never ignored those positive words, “every time I heard the motivation and potential to be somebody, I would gravitate to it.” He knew he wanted to entertain because he had been doing it his entire life from playing sports, to be-boxing and much more.

When he was ready to chase his dreams of being an actor, he decided to document his his life in his documentary, A Journey. In his journey you see him talk about his experiences through his entertainment career. He documented his experiences to be a motivation to others, “it’s all about what you love to do, because when you do what you love the money is going to come regardless.”  He hopes that his journey will inspire others to make their dreams their reality.

“A lot of people just don’t believe, and they always have that doubt. They get on their knees and pray, and the next day they worry, what you pray for? Just to get up and worry again? You got no faith for God?” He believed in his dream. Burrell had never been on the West Coast; nevertheless, when his dreams began to become his reality, he packed his stuff and drove from Atlanta to Los Angeles, with no music playing. He enjoyed the scenic views, and  the realization that he was living out his destiny.

Black Boots- LL Burrell- Geno Brooks

As for his ongoing productions in L.A., you can see him in the web series, Black Boots. Directed by Geno Brooks. Burrell plays the lead character, Grant, who attends Brooks University. Unlike any series on brotherhood and fraternity life, you will find in this series the entire pledging process, including everything from going on missions to entering the cut.

However, this web series is more than entertainment, there is something to learn. They want to show you what real brotherhood and sisterhood looks like, “they show how we should stick together, and show love for your brother, and for your sisters as well as show respect.” The show’s plan is to show Grant fulfill his college years. They have five more episodes left in this season.

What’s most inspiring is that he remembers writing all of his dreams down. He also believes in speaking positivity from your tongue and watching those things manifest. He credits The Secret, for teaching him meditation, and silencing his voice of worry, “no one can take you out your element. You are there. You’ve just elevated yourself up one dimension, now it’s time to do your work. It’s about having faith and believing it.”

He meditated on the McDonalds commercial that he is now receiving lots of attention for. He looked  himself dead in the mirror and claimed, “this is mine! I’m Turtleneck Tommy.” Once he got the call confirming it was his. He was ecstatic!

Fun Fact: It took three hours have the tattoos painted on him for the commercial.

Although he’s in millions of homes, he still has more work to do. He’s still learning something new everyday, and learning as he go. “It’s all about learning, or taking that initiative to pursue whatever you want to do.” His dreams are scaring him because he’s seeing them come true, which is breathtaking.

His message to aspiring actors is to “be yourself.” He also says,

“it is okay if things don’t always go your way. Take those negative situations as lessons, because you are learning everyday. You aren’t taught these things when you follow your instincts, so stay true to yourself, and have morals. You should also practice your craft every chance you get. Even if you have to practice on strangers-that’s what they’re there for. Most importantly, have thick skin; everyone isn’t built for this.”

As for what’s next for this charismatic hear-throb, he’s predicting that he will get some major box-office movie roles, be on billboards, and magazine covers. (See how he continues to speak positivity in his life? Now you do it!)
