I haven’t found a person who doesn’t love fruit. There are so many different kinds to choose from, so everyone is satisfied. What’s so awesome about fruit is that it’s a pleasure you don’t have to feel guilty about. They’re sweet, yet good for you! Can you saying #WINNING! Double time!

We all know that fruit is good for us. We know bananas are good for potassium, and that oranges are great for Vitamin C. Plus we’ve all heard the saying about apples, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” But there are many other fruits that will keep you out of the doctor’s office and have you out and about living life.

Cranberries

  • Rich in antioxidants.
  • Great for the ladies, as it has been known to help treat and prevent urinary tract infections, kidney stones and ulcers.
  • A little unknown fact is that unsweetened cranberry juice makes an excellent mouthwash, studies show it can help kill bacteria and fight cavities.

Cantaloupe

  • Cantaloupe is a good source of vitamin A, folate and potassium.
  • It is also high in the antioxidant beta-carotene, which may help reduce the risk of developing cataracts.
  • Cantaloupe is a perfect diet food since it has about half the calories of most other fruits.

Figs (dried)

  • Great source of potassium, calcium and iron.
  • High in fiber, figs may help reduce the risk of heart disease.
  • Puréed figs make an excellent substitute for fat (like butter or oil) in baked goods.

Kiwifruit

  • Contains vitamins C and E, magnesium and potassium
  • Help in the development and maintenance of bones, cartilage, teeth and gums.
  • Help lower blood triglyceride levels, which decreases the risk of heart disease.

Papaya

  •  Great source of folate, vitamins A, maintaing the health of skin, and Vitamin C
  • Contains papain, an enzyme that aids digestion.
  • The black seeds inside the papaya are edible and have a sharp, spicy flavor. Blend them into salad dressing as a substitute for black pepper.

Grapefruit (pink)

  • Excellent source of vitamin A.
  • Contains lycopene and flavonoids, which may help protect against some types of cancer.
  • Grapefruit also boasts an ample supply of pectin, a soluble fiber that may help lower cholesterol levels.

Peaches

  • High in vitamin A, peaches help regulate the immune system and can help fight off infections.
  • Peaches do not get sweeter after they have been picked, so avoid buying underripe peaches.

Pears

  • Full of fiber.
  • Soluble, which can help prevent constipation, and may also help reduce blood cholesterol levels and prevent heart disease.

Pineapple

  • Contains a natural enzyme called bromelain, which breaks down protein and helps aid digestion, and may also help prevent blood clots, inhibit growth of cancer cells and speed wound healing.
  • Pineapple juice makes an excellent marinade and tenderizer for meat.

Pomegranate

  • Contains fiber, vitamin A and potassium
  • Contain antioxidant tannins, which may protect the heart.
  • Daily consumption of pomegranate juice may promote normal blood pressure levels and reduce the risk of heart attacks.

So go dig into some fruit tonight, when you’re craving something sweet, and the next time you go to grocery store try a different fruit, I’m sure its full of good stuff for you!
